About Us

The Community Foundation for Wakefield District was established in 2007. It is part of a growing network of grant-giving organisations in the UK and worldwide. The Foundation relies on donations from individual and corporate donors, whose generosity supports our grant-making programme.

Our Trustees include representatives from local businesses, the public sector and civic leaders who contribute a range of skills and expertise.

We have two key roles. One is to act as a 'Philanthropy Advisor'  working in a professional and confidential way with individuals, organisations and companies to establish and then manage a wide range of charitable funds. We embrace personal contact so please get in touch.

The second is to act as the bridge with the local community and voluntary sector, ensuring that grants are used to address real needs and problems.  Donors are secure in the knowledge that every penny that they donate is spent directly on supporting local people and every effort is made to ensure Donors are kept in touch with the impact of their giving.

We have conducted a feasibility study, kindly sponsored by Yorkshire Bank, which highlights the need in the district, gives  an overview of the  economic base in Wakefield and brief details of how we are proceeding. Download a copy here.
